About Vladimir
MSU graduate and Superprof Super Tutor with 23 years of experience teaching Grades 9–12 and first-year university. Consistently help students achieve top results in IB (AA/AI SL/HL), AP and A-level exams. My approach is structured, patient and exam-focused: we work with clear goals, measurable progress and honest feedback. I stay in touch with parents, explain what we are doing and why, and give concrete next steps after each lesson. I teach in English or Russian. Online lessons only.

In precalculus we cover:
– functions and their transformations
– polynomials and rational functions
– exponentials and logarithms
– sequences and series
– vectors and analytic geometry
– introductory limits and continuity
In the first lesson I run a short diagnostic, set clear goals with you (and parents, if needed) and propose a realistic timeline.
Typical lesson structure (Super Tutor format):
1. 5–10 min – quick concept recap or mini-theory
2. 20–25 min – guided examples with detailed explanations
3. 20–25 min – independent problem solving with live feedback
4. 5–10 min – short check/quiz and homework plan
You keep a structured notebook and a simple progress sheet so you can see your improvement each week. We also use Desmos and occasional Python visuals to make abstract ideas concrete.
The free first lesson is a full diagnostic and planning session: we identify gaps, set exam or school targets, and build a study plan.

Polina began eighth grade with an uneasy “4–” in maths and a habit of freezing on multi-step problems. After two short study cycles with Vladimir Podlevskikh (March–May 2022 and October 2024–February 2025) she closed the gap:
• term grade rose to a confident “5”;
• the internal end-of-year test improved from 68 % to 91 %;
• she now handles GCSE-level algebra without supervision.
What I value in Vladimir’s teaching:
• Precision: every session follows the school syllabus to the page—no wasted detours.
• Accountability: weekly mini-tests with point-by-point rubrics show progress in real numbers, not impressions.
• Mindset shift: Polina stopped asking “Which formula fits?” and started asking “Why does the model work?”
Clear, structured, and quietly encouraging—exactly what a results-oriented parent hopes to find in a tutor.When our daughter Sonya switched to a Dutch VWO programme in Grade 6, maths suddenly turned from ‘OK’ to ‘uh-oh’. Weekly online lessons with Vladimir changed that story in less than a year.
✦ He dove straight into her Dutch textbook, rewrote the trickiest topics in clear Russian, and—crucially—made her explain every step back to him in English. Result: class mark jumped from a C-/5 to a solid A/8 and the transition test was a breeze.
✦ Homework came as bite-size “missions” with point values; Sonya could see exactly where she lost marks and fix it that evening.
✦ Most important for us: zero stress. Vladimir’s dry humour and ‘show me your idea first’ approach turned maths hour into the highlight of her week.
Sonya is now a first-year VWO college student tackling calculus on her own. If you need a tutor who adapts to any curriculum and keeps motivation alive, Vladimir is a safe bet.In just two months of coaching (August–September 2015), Vladimir Podlevskikh helped me raise my SAT composite from 1620 to 2060 and earn perfect 800 / 800 scores in both SAT Math II and SAT Physics. Those results secured my place in the Computer Science Honors program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I graduated with honours in 2020.
Vladimir’s sessions are the opposite of rote practice: Olympiad-level drills, Socratic prompts, and rapid feedback force you to understand why a solution works, not just how to copy it. That habit of deep reasoning now underpins my daily work building healthcare AI at Oracle. If your goal is top-tier exam performance and lasting analytical skill, Vladimir is the tutor you want.I worked with Vladimir Podlevskikh for two academic years (2009-2011) while preparing for Russia’s Unified State Exams and the ‘Step into the Future’ Olympiad. My Physics score climbed from 82 to 96 /100 and Mathematics from 84 to 88 /100—results that opened the door to the Higher School of Economics and, later, a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Maryland.
Vladimir’s hallmark is thinking first, formulas second: every lesson combined Olympiad-style problems with Socratic questions, so I learned to derive solutions instead of memorising templates. Mini-quizzes and same-day feedback closed knowledge gaps long before they became an issue. His calm manner (plus a well-timed joke) kept motivation high during a very intense exam season.
The analytical habits I built in his classes still power my work on large language models at Amazon. If you need a tutor who delivers measurable results and teaches you how to think, Vladimir is the one.View more recommendations
