About Katy
I am a Baylor pre-medical student majoring in Health Science Studies minoring in Biology, and researching the blood brain barrier. When not learning, I am volunteering with Caritas, Harris Creek, or American Medical Women's Association (AMWA). Caritas is an organization in Waco that provides food to those who can not get it on their own. AMWA is a pre-health organization at Baylor that provides me with an environment of people who continue to keep me accountable and focused on my goals. At Harris Creek, I lead a "life group". This means I provide a space and friendship to other college aged women to lead them through college life. I am also an active member of Chi Omega, where I have been given the opportunity to lead, teach and serve the Waco community. I carry out research in The Bruce Lab at Baylor and would love to tell you more about that work.

I base my classes on the level the student(s) understand the material. This is conducted by having a "quiz" at our first session so I can truly meet the student at their needs. If there is a large lack thereof, we will make efforts to re-learn the material in a different way and strategize how to succeed in the topic. It is always promised that there will be material to work on until the student(s) and I meet again and descriptive transcripts of what the student(s) and I worked on so you, their guardian, can encourage them and remind them of strategies when I am not present.
