About Emma
I have been a social worker for 14 years and always worked in front line child protection. I am a qualified practice educator and have loved supporting many students through their ASYE and first and second year social work placements. I have 2 years experience as a team manager and 3 years as an independent reviewing officer and child protection chair which is my current role.
I have a thorough understanding of the law and how we apply this in social work with lots of experience of care proceedings public and private. I enjoy learning and being a practice educator and manager and this encourages me to keep up to date with current research, practice and issues.
Teaching gives me space to reflect and analyse and not just do. Social work is a rewarding but challenging profession and I think it is so important to support the future cohorts of social workers by sharing our own practice experience and knowledge that you can’t learn through a textbook.
