About Melissa
I have a Bachelor of Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Statistics from the University of Auckland (the birthplace of the programming language R!). I am currently one course away from completing my Master of Science in Statistics there.
During my postgraduate studies, I received an A+ for my MSc dissertation, and gained the First In Course award for STATS 776. During my undergraduate studies, I received two Certificates of Outstanding Achievement from the University of Auckland Computer Science Department.
I started tutoring part time in 2014. I have worked in statistical/scientific software and data science full time since 2021, while continuing to provide tuition, as I am passionate about helping students, and never want to stop!

I have tutored mathematics, statistics, programming, and English at various levels since 2014, both privately and at various businesses. For three of those years, I worked at a math tuition business, where I had the highest student retention rate of all tutors.
I can help with mathematics up to first and second year university (select courses), statistics at all levels, and programming with R, Python, and HTML/CSS.
Lessons are always tailored to the individual; one size does not fit all, but I always focus on practical examples and building a true understanding. There is nothing I discourage more than rote learning!
