About Clark

Music has always been a central part of my life, and the piano has been my instrument of choice for over a decade. With 9 years of teaching experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to guide students through their musical journeys. My own training was rigorous, covering everything from classical to contemporary styles, and this diverse background allows me to offer well-rounded instruction that adapts to the unique goals of each student.

As a teacher, I’m passionate about helping others unlock their musical potential. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. I believe that every student learns differently, so I strive to create a supportive environment where each person feels confident and motivated. Whether working with a young beginner or a more advanced player, my focus is always on helping them build the skills and confidence they need to express themselves through music.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students from all walks of life. Each student brings their own set of challenges and aspirations, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them progress. My lessons emphasize the importance of technique, theory, and sight-reading, but I also encourage students to explore their musical interests. Outside of teaching, I continue to immerse myself in music, both as a performer and a learner. Staying connected to the musical world allows me to bring fresh perspectives and ideas into my lessons. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your abilities, each lesson is tailored to help you reach your goals.

My lessons emphasize three main areas: technique, music theory, and sight-reading. Technique is crucial for developing finger strength, agility, and precision, allowing you to play with ease and confidence. We’ll explore exercises and pieces that target these skills, ensuring you develop a strong and versatile playing style. Music theory is integrated into each lesson, helping you understand the language of music, which is essential for interpreting and performing pieces accurately.

Sight-reading is another key component of my teaching. Developing strong sight-reading skills enables you to approach new music with confidence and ease. This skill not only makes learning new pieces faster but also enhances your ability to play with others, an important aspect of musical growth. We’ll work on this gradually, building your ability to read and play music fluently.

In addition to these core areas, I focus on nurturing a love for music. I encourage students to explore different genres and pieces, helping them discover what resonates with them personally.
