About Riley
I have nurtured a lifelong passion for piano, earning a B.Mus in Piano Performance and an M.Mus in Music Education to deepen my skills and teaching expertise. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, helping them develop technical mastery, musical interpretation, and performance confidence. My teaching emphasizes individualized instruction, encouragement, and a positive, engaging environment that fosters exploration and growth.
I integrate technical exercises, repertoire study, improvisation, ensemble practice, and performance guidance to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Students are encouraged to reflect on progress, experiment with phrasing, and cultivate their unique musical voice. Lessons are tailored to each student’s style, ability, and musical goals to ensure meaningful, lasting development.
Outside teaching, I actively perform, study diverse repertoire, and explore new pedagogical approaches. Bringing these insights into lessons enriches learning and inspires students. Witnessing learners gain technical skill, expressiveness, and confidence is profoundly rewarding, making teaching piano one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.

My piano lessons are designed to develop technical skill, musical interpretation, and expressive performance in a supportive, inspiring environment. Lessons focus on finger independence, scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, and performance practice. Students engage in both structured exercises and repertoire study to build technical competence, musical understanding, and expressive freedom. Each session emphasizes goal-setting, reflective practice, and exploration, encouraging students to grow both technically and artistically while fostering confidence and joy in music.
Intermediate and advanced learners focus on complex repertoire, stylistic interpretation, improvisation, ensemble playing, and recital preparation. I provide guidance on phrasing, tone, dynamics, pedaling, and stage presence, enabling students to develop a refined musical voice and performance confidence. Lessons incorporate exercises for concentration, endurance, and expressive nuance, ensuring students gain both technical mastery and expressive artistry. The approach nurtures creativity alongside disciplined practice.
Studying piano enhances musicality, technical ability, cognitive skills, and personal confidence. Many learners report increased self-assurance, artistic insight, and a deeper appreciation for music. My goal is to guide students toward both technical excellence and expressive performance, helping them connect deeply with music while developing lifelong skills in discipline, creativity, and confidence.
