About Connor
I am a piano instructor with over 7 years of teaching experience. I teach school pupils, college students, and working professionals. I have guided about 300 students successfully. Many have passed graded exams with top results, performed in recitals, and gained lasting confidence at the keyboard. Some have moved on to play in bands or write their own music. My teaching is based on care, motivation, adapting to learning styles, and problem-solving. I believe every student learns differently. I customize my lessons to suit each person's pace and goals. I focus on building strong technique, reading skills, theory knowledge, and ear training. I also teach improvisation, expression, and stage skills. I am patient and supportive. I encourage students to play music they love and celebrate every milestone. I guide them through challenges with helpful strategies. I am proud of my students' growth and their love for piano. My goal is to inspire a lasting connection to music.

My teaching approach for piano is built on four main principles: care, motivation, learning-style adaptation, and problem-solving skills. I see the piano as a beautiful instrument that can bring joy for a lifetime. My aim is to help students build solid technical skills, musical understanding, and genuine enjoyment of playing. Care is central to my studio. I understand that learning piano can be challenging and sometimes frustrating. I am kind and patient. I create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I never rush or judge them. I recognize their effort and encourage them constantly. Motivation keeps students engaged. I choose music that excites them. I set realistic short-term goals and celebrate every milestone. I show students their progress so they stay inspired. I also link their practice to their personal interests, whether that means playing film scores, pop songs, or classical pieces. Adapting to learning styles helps every student get the most out of lessons. Visual learners benefit from diagrams and colored notes. Auditory learners learn by listening and copying. Kinesthetic learners need to feel the music through movement. I identify how each student learns and teach in that style. This makes learning faster and more enjoyable. Problem-solving is a skill I teach actively. When students struggle with a passage or rhythm, I guide them to find solutions on their own. I teach them to break down tricky sections, spot weak areas, and practice effectively. This builds independence and confidence that goes beyond the piano. My lessons cover a wide range of subjects. Technique is a major focus. I teach correct posture, hand position, finger independence, and touch. I use scales, arpeggios, and exercises to develop control and evenness. Sight-reading is developed through regular practice with graded materials. Music theory is woven into every session. I teach note reading, intervals, chords, key signatures, and harmony. Ear training strengthens listening skills through interval identification, chord recognition, and rhythm exercises. Repertoire is selected to match each student's taste, covering classical, jazz, pop, blues, and contemporary music. I teach phrasing, dynamics, and expression. Improvisation and composition are encouraged for creative students. I teach chord progressions and scales for creating original music. Sight-playing and lead sheet reading are covered for those who want to play in bands or accompany others. Each lesson is structured but flexible. We start with warm-ups and technical work, move to sight-reading and theory, and focus on repertoire. I end with a review and practice plan. I use recordings for self-assessment and adjust goals as needed. My aim is to develop skilled, creative, and confident pianists who love playing.
