About Brent

I'm a Memphis native, professional musician, and worship leader with a B.A. in Music and 20 years of experience teaching piano.

I'm passionate about helping students learn, grow, and develop a genuine enjoyment of music. I take the time to understand each student's individual goals and learning style, and I'm committed to helping every student make meaningful progress while building a strong musical foundation.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your musical goals!

About the lesson

I offer personalized one-on-one piano lessons for children, teens, and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced students. I have a degree in music and 20 years of teaching experience, and I tailor lessons to each student's age, experience, goals, and musical interests.

A typical lesson combines learning to read music, developing technique, learning songs and repertoire, and building a solid understanding of music theory. I believe students should understand what they are playing rather than simply memorizing notes, so I explain the "why" behind the music and help students develop skills they can use independently.

I teach a variety of styles, including classical, gospel, hymns, worship, pop, blues, and jazz. Whether you want to learn piano from the beginning, improve your technique and musicianship, learn to play your favorite songs, or develop your ability to play chords and accompany yourself or others, lessons can be tailored to your goals.

What sets my teaching apart is my emphasis on making lessons both practical and enjoyable while still building a strong musical foundation. I work with each student at an appropriate pace and choose materials and repertoire that fit the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Lessons are generally 30 minutes once a week, with longer lessons available depending on the student's needs and schedule. I teach from my studio in Olive Branch, MS, and also offer lessons online via Zoom.

I look forward to working with you!

Brent is very thorough and patient. I took adult lessons with him and enjoyed it very much. He is continually training with new teachers himself so
his knowledge base is phenomenal.
