About Thomas

I'm currently in my final year studying BSc Physics at university.
I admire the intricacy of mathematics and find it incredibly fulfilling to help students develop an understanding of mathematical techniques and physical concepts that I once found difficult to comprehend myself.

I aim to be as encouraging, supportive and flexible as possible, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.I also urge students to reach out if they're struggling, be it with revision strategies, exam questions or even a general query.

Ultimately, my goal as a tutor isn't only to help students pass their next exam, but to also improve their problem-solving independence, confidence and their capacity and motivation to learn.

About the lesson

As a passionate Physics student with 200+ hours of tutoring experience, I tailor each lesson to the individual student's needs, focusing on their key weaknesses and knowledge gaps.

I like using free-hand diagrams, active recall and real-world applications to make challenging concepts easier to understand and to maintain engagement. Where appropriate, I incorporate past exam questions to develop exam technique, build confidence and improve the student's ability to apply mathematical concepts to unfamiliar problems.

I have experience teaching students aged 14–18 at both GCSE and A Level. Lessons are typically around 1 hour and can be adapted depending on the student's goals.

Our previously very reluctant chap worked hard during his sessions with Thomas and enjoyed engaging with him. Thomas was totally reliable.
