About Tim

Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a passion for problem-solving, I am eager to share the gift of Physics far and wide. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Deep Learning for Quantum Sciences, I collaborate with leading players in the private sector of quantum technologies through a partnership with ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences.

My motivation for tutoring stems from the profound satisfaction of helping others achieve conceptual clarity. There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing the moment when understanding clicks, the proverbial penny drops, or that sought-after lightbulb moment occurs in STEM subjects.

Beyond the realm of sciences, I am a dual national with a background in and around London, enjoying both the outdoors and music. Alongside my scientific pursuits, I am an avid musician and composer, actively participating in the UK YMSO and having been an alumnus of the University of London Symphony Orchestra (ULSO). Additionally, I indulge my creative side by composing works for solo piano and chamber groups.

One day, I hope to be able to start my own Quantum Technology company, and this idea is the premise of my PhD!

My tutoring approach is a dynamic, interactive, and most of all focused on problem solving with practical applications through visualisation. Having that intuitive "gut feeling" through visualisation can revolutionise the way you connect a wide range of topics under a unified conceptual framework. It's often at the beginning of a problem they we are most stuck in trying to find a meaningful direction. By visualising and unifying concepts, I hope to show you how to express your physical intuition mathematically to give you a ruthless edge when solving problems. Through this lens, we can foster a deep understanding of physical principles with enthusiasm, expertise and mathematics. My approach is counter to the typical "recipe following" encountered by many students at school and is seen more often at university, with a strong focus on curiosity, questions, and personal development. I hope in my lessons that we may bridge this gap together to develop a renewed appreciation for a subject at a pace that matches you best. For undergrads, check out below for a list of taught topics - I have loads of great insights, tips and tricks for mastering your courses!

Undergraduate topics:

- Electromagnetism
- Thermodynamics
- Statistical Mechanics
- Waves and vibrations
- Optics
- Relativity
- Nuclear/Atomic Physics
- Particle Physics
- Quantum Mechanics (see my Quantum physics ad)
- Mathematical methods (see maths ad TL;DR Statistics, Calculus, Fourier Methods, ODEs & PDEs, Differential Geometry, Group Theory, Calculus of Variations)

Engage in purposeful learning with sessions crafted specifically for you. Each lesson, spanning 1 to 2 hours, is a carefully curated experience focused on maximizing understanding. Whether you're tackling A-level challenges, diving into BSc complexities, or exploring the depths of MSc physics, our sessions are customized to meet your unique learning goals. At higher level, we can also explore career options, help with thesis writing and organising + optimising workloads.

Master the art of problem-solving by dissecting key problems from influential physics texts. Our sessions will delve into the core challenges presented by renowned physicists, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. This strategic approach ensures that you not only tackle theoretical concepts but also apply your knowledge to solve real-world problems.

Geared towards aspiring minds aged 15 to 25, my lessons are tailored for those navigating A-levels, BSc, or MSc physics. Whether you're starting your physics journey or seeking to deepen your understanding, these sessions are crafted to instil confidence and foster a love for learning.

Bringing a rich academic background to the table with a BSc in Theoretical Physics (Dean's List Award, Graduating Top 10) and an MSc in Quantum Dynamics Imperial College London (Graduating Top 10), I've honed my teaching skills over 7 years of dedicated tutoring every week. My mission is to transform seemingly complex topics into accessible knowledge, ensuring that you not only grasp the content but also develop a profound appreciation for what is a beautiful and elegant subject.
