About Dakota
I am currently working as an engineer, but I have both a BS in Physics (with Astronomy minor) as well as an MS in Physics with a focus in Optics. I have done both private tutoring (3 years) and teaching: 2 years during my Master's teaching undergraduate Physics labs as part of their coursework.

My teaching approach is adaptive. Firstly, I prefer to have access to the same text that you are currently learning from (I will attempt to find it online). If that doesn't work out, I will choose a text that I am familiar with as my reference.
During actual teaching, I have found that a guiding hand is better in the long run than a lecturing mouth. If needed, of course I will explain concepts in-depth, however working through examples is the best way to learn.
If an explanation that I am giving just isn't clicking, that is ok! I will change my approach to that topic as many times as needed to let YOU understand it. I have had students in the past that thought "no matter what I try, I just cannot understand this!" Well, I'll believe it when I see it. Most people have an issue with how they are interpreting the material, and usually that can be fixed by changing the approach, changing up the explanation!
