About Matthew

I am Dr. Matthew Lockner, Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. I also hold a master's in Computer Science and Engineering from Penn State University. I have over 20 years' worth of collective teaching experience in these fields, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At Iowa State I was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award as a graduate teaching assistant. In addition to tutoring in physics and computer science, I also offer tutoring in mathematics. Please inquire about specific subjects. I like Star Trek, bowling, artificial intelligence, and Dr. House. My greatest claim to fame as a tutor is that I once had a student come to me who was enrolled in engineering physics and getting a D-; I can't claim complete credit, but he left with an A.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on building both understanding and confidence. I use clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and real-world examples to help students grasp difficult concepts. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, whether high school, undergraduate, or graduate. As a Ph.D. physicist with strong programming and math expertise, I offer unique insights that go beyond textbooks.
