About Margaux

Hi, I’m Margaux, and I’m so happy to meet you! I’ve been teaching physics for 9 years, and 7 of those have been live online. I earned my B.S. in Physics from the University of Minnesota Duluth and my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where my research looked at how ice forms on ships and structures in cold water. I hold a Minnesota teaching license in Physics for grades 9–12 and completed College Board training for AP Physics. I spent two years as a design engineer at a company that builds equipment for cargo ports, and I then taught Physics and Physical Science for four years at a Duluth high school. I now teach as an adjunct instructor at Lake Superior College. I’m proud of a third grader who tested six foil boats to see how many pennies each could hold, of a high schooler who built a working counterweight lift for her science fair and of an adult learner who finally understood circuits well enough to start a technician program. Families describe me as calm, clear and very well prepared.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile! I teach physics and science from kindergarten through 12th grade, plus college and adult learners, covering motion, forces, energy, fluids, electricity, magnetism, waves and the math skills physics needs. Students come to me for homework help, test preparation, honors, AP and IB courses, science fairs or because physics feels confusing, and if your topic isn’t listed, just ask. Lessons are live and one-on-one on Zoom or Google Meet with a digital whiteboard. I explain one idea with a clear sketch, we solve a problem together, and then you take the pencil. Duluth’s harbor has huge ore ships and a famous Lift Bridge, so our signature activity is the Lift Bridge Lab. You build a tiny bridge or boat from household items and test why heavy ships float and how counterweights make heavy things easy to lift. When a goal is reached, you earn a Curiosity Coupon to choose our next topic, and parents are welcome to join a quick Parent Peek in the last 5 minutes. I teach in Central Time with early and evening slots for other US time zones, and a parent or guardian stays nearby for younger students. You only need a phone, tablet or computer, internet, and paper and a pencil. To start, message me your grade, your course and what you’d like to understand. Your free trial lesson comes first.
