About Elliot
My name is Elliot, and I have recently graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class Master's degree in physics. I am now starting a PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Bath. I enjoy helping interested students advance their skills and understanding of a subject, whatever they're starting level. I have worked with first year undergraduate students for two years, but have also tutored A-level students, and am happy to tutor at GCSE and lower levels if desired. As long as students are willing to learn, I am sure that we can make good progress together.

I approach maths and physics from the viewpoint of gaining tools to help you tackle any problem and be able to adapt to new problems. Often students see only one type of problem and learn to tackle this single scenario. By understanding the tools you are using, you will need to do less memorisation and will be able to adapt to new problems where the same tools are applicable, giving you much more flexibility and a greater chance of success. Lessons can be adapted to suit your needs, be that length or content covered. I have two years of experience working with first year undergraduate students to help them understand the weekly content. This often involved trying to approach ideas from different directions to suit the way students most easily approached a subject. Working from a position of understanding and developing that idea to include a new concept is a powerful way to approach new content, and this is something I will use in tutoring sessions to help students understand unfamiliar concepts.
