About John
My name is John Augustine Joseph, and I’m a Physics graduate from Trinity College Dublin with a strong interest in education, research, and making complex ideas easy to understand. I’ve always been fascinated by how the world works — from the maths behind motion to the physics of the everyday — and that curiosity naturally led me to teaching.
Alongside my degree, I’ve tutored students in Maths and Physics at GCSE, A-Level, and university level, helping them build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve real academic progress. I’ve also worked with a wide range of students, both online and in person.
I take pride in being patient, adaptable, and clear in my explanations — qualities I’ve developed through both tutoring and academic research.
Outside the classroom, I’ve worked on research in statistical physics and material science, and participated in innovation and leadership programmes. I also enjoy public speaking and mentoring, and I’m always looking for new ways to connect ideas and people.
Whether I’m guiding a student through exam prep or exploring deeper subject understanding, I aim to make learning engaging, structured, and genuinely enjoyable.

My lessons are fully tailored to each student’s needs, goals, and learning style. I begin by identifying areas of strength and difficulty, followed by setting achievable targets and designing a personalised learning plan.
Each session combines clear explanations, active problem-solving, and step-by-step guidance through past paper questions and challenging concepts. I place strong emphasis on understanding over memorisation, helping students build a solid foundation and the confidence to apply their knowledge independently.
For online lessons, I use interactive tools like digital whiteboards, screen sharing, and annotated notes to keep sessions clear and engaging. Students receive follow-up materials, revision strategies, and optional homework to reinforce learning between sessions.
Whether preparing for exams, tackling coursework, or getting ahead, my lessons are structured, supportive, and always focused on measurable progress. I also provide regular feedback and progress updates to students and, where appropriate, to parents or guardians.

The rates for University Students are £40 per hour (therefore for a 5 lesson package it will be £195 and for a 10 lesson package it will be £390).
