About Jocasta
I am a Philosophy, Theology & Ethics graduate from Manchester University. I have worked abroad in Japan as a language tutor previously at a language cafe - I enjoyed it so much so that I’m looking to continue tutoring whilst in the UK. My speciality is Western Political Philosophy, covering subjects such as Violence, Gender Studies, The concept of Evil etc. I also have experience in Middle Eastern Studies, focusing on MENA Feminism and understanding contemporary Islam.

My teaching method is interactive. Each lesson will comprise of note taking and discussion. Homework will be research based on weekly topics; this research will fuel lesson discussions. The student has freedom to choose specific areas of interest which I will then use as the basis of each (or multiple) lesson(s). Typically, the focus of each lesson will be either on 1 theory or thinker - the student will be expected to complete further reading based on the topic For example, researching a topical event in the news and understanding it through the lens of a particular theory or thinker.
