About Rida

Hello, I'm Rida!

With two years of experience teaching mathematics and economics, I've had the privilege of guiding GCSE and A Level students through these challenging subjects.

As a recent graduate from the University of York, my academic journey has equipped me with a fresh perspective and a deep passion for teaching. Having been a student myself, I understand the stress that can accompany challenging subjects. It's that personal understanding that drives my commitment to creating a supportive and empathetic learning environment.

I know firsthand how crucial it is for students to feel understood and supported, especially when facing academic challenges. My goal is to connect with students on a personal level, offering reassurance and understanding during those tough moments. I want my students to know that they are not alone in their struggles and that we can work together to overcome any obstacles.

I pride myself on being friendly and approachable. I believe that a positive and welcoming atmosphere is essential for effective learning. By fostering a comfortable environment, I aim to make it easy for students to approach me with questions or concerns. Building trust and a sense of camaraderie with my students is at the core of my teaching philosophy.

In my classroom, education is more than just transferring knowledge – it's about creating a community where every student feels valued and empowered. I am dedicated to making the learning journey not only educational but also enjoyable and engaging. I look forward to bringing my passion for teaching and empathetic approach to create a positive and enriching experience for all my students.

Approach to Tutoring:

I adopt a student centred and interactive approach to tutoring, aiming to foster a deep understanding of the subjects while nurturing critical thinking skills. My methodology focuses on making complex concepts accessible by breaking them down into manageable parts, using real-world examples to illustrate abstract theories, and encouraging active student participation.

Techniques and Teaching Methodology:

1) Customised Learning Plans: Tailoring lessons to the individual needs and learning styles of each student, ensuring they receive personalised attention.

2) Interactive Discussions: Engaging students in discussions to encourage analytical thinking, problem-solving, and application of theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.

3) Practical Examples: Integrating practical examples to illustrate complex concepts, making the subjects more relatable and enhancing comprehension.

4) Use of Technology: Incorporating relevant educational technology to enhance the learning experience, such as interactive simulations, online resources, and collaborative platforms.

Typical Length of a Lesson:

Each lesson typically lasts around 60 to 90 minutes, allowing for a comprehensive coverage of topics while maintaining the student's focus and engagement. The duration may be adjusted based on individual student needs and the complexity of the material being covered.

Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:

I bring to the table a solid foundation in economics and maths, complemented by two years of teaching experience. My educational background includes Mathematics at A level and a degree qualification in BA(Hons) Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with a specialisation in Economics, and Econometrics. Additionally, I continually update my knowledge to stay current with the latest developments in the field, ensuring that my students benefit from the most relevant and up-to-date information.

Who Are Your Lessons For:

My tutoring services are primarily designed for GCSE and A-level students in economics and maths. The age group typically ranges from 14 to 18 years old. I cater to students who are aiming for a strong foundational understanding of the subjects, as well as those preparing for exams and seeking to excel in their academic pursuits.

By adopting this approach, I aim to create a positive and conducive learning environment, where students not only grasp the subject matter but also develop a passion for the subjects and a lifelong love for learning.
