About Charli

I am a 2nd year PhD student at the University of Exeter. I live in Exeter and am willing to travel within reason or hold lessons at my house. I can teach Maths, Biology or Chemistry. I teach any student from primary to secondary school with a main aim to help students achieve the best results they can in their GCSE's and A levels.

My lesson structure can be tailored to you, your needs and the best way you learn. I am friendly, approachable and a motivated individual who wants you to do the best you can. Any questions or problems, I am here to help you and want to tailor each lesson to the concepts and ideas that you are struggling with. I do not know everything but I will do my hardest to find the answer if I do not know myself! Every day is a school day so I will probably ending up learning new things myself and building my knowledge as I help each student.

I like to spend my first session getting to know the student, the ways they learn best and understand the topics they are struggling with and what they want to get out of the tutoring experience. I am happy to adapt any lesson to the exact needs of the student, whether it be going through past papers together, going through complicated pathways/concepts, helping them revise and setting up a plan with them, providing them with new ways to learn and practice the things they are struggling with. I will also often provide students with examples and problems for them to work through in their own time before the next lesson. I am contactable via email or the phone whenever they may be struggling in between lessons or need pointing in the right direction of further help.

About the lesson

I am a PhD student at the University of Exeter researching the use of human genetics to help inform the drug discovery pipeline in collaboration with Glaxo Smith Klein, the drug company. I graduated from Cardiff University with a First Class Honours in Biochemistry, also achieving two academic prizes for being the top student, and have since obtained a Masters in Genomic Medicine at Exeter University before starting my PhD. Previously, I have been a part of teaching tutorials and workshops.
