About Mohammad

I am a PhD-qualified Electronics Engineer, AI Researcher and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), with over 20 years of academic, research and industrial experience across UK universities and industry.

I hold a PhD in Advanced Electronics, with research conducted at Bristol Robotics Laboratory (Bristol, UK), and MSc and BSc degrees in Electronic Engineering.

My academic and technical expertise spans analogue and digital electronics, FPGA and embedded systems, computing, robotics and control, AI, machine learning and hardware reliability. I have extensive experience in university course and module design, preparation and delivery, covering both theoretical and practical engineering education, including mathematics, programming, computational methods, laboratory-based activities, electronic and embedded system design, modelling and simulation. My academic responsibilities have also included student assessment and marking, and supervision and guidance of BSc, MSc and PhD research projects.

I have co-authored 48 journal and conference papers, including two award-winning papers, participated in journal peer review and served as an examiner for PhD viva examinations.

My teaching and tutoring experience covers BTEC Engineering, university-level BEng/MEng subjects, and GCSE/A-level Electronics and Computer Science. My expertise also extends to University Foundation Year programmes and supplementary or bridging modules in mathematics, physics, electronics and programming.

My teaching, assessment and marking experience has also developed my expertise in examination preparation, syllabus requirements, past-paper analysis and examination techniques, helping students strengthen their understanding and approach challenging examination questions confidently.

Relevant qualifications and examination boards include WJEC/Eduqas (Electronics); AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC/Eduqas and Cambridge International (Computer Science, as applicable); and Pearson BTEC Engineering and Computing.

My lessons focus on exam preparation, deep understanding of technical concepts, effective knowledge retention and practical engineering skills. I help students build confidence through structured learning, problem-solving, programming, design and simulation.

I provide personalised tutoring for GCSE, A-level, BTEC, University Foundation Year, BEng, MEng and postgraduate students, tailored to their individual courses, modules and learning objectives.

My teaching and academic support includes:

Exam preparation: Mock examinations, university past papers, exam-style questions, revision strategies and examination techniques.

Effective learning: Identifying knowledge gaps, strengthening conceptual understanding, and using customised learning materials, flashcards, mind maps and active recall techniques.

Practical engineering: Circuit design, programming, hardware development, numerical modelling, simulations and laboratory-related problem-solving.

Assignments and projects: Reviewing students' own work, providing constructive technical feedback, troubleshooting designs and improving project implementation and presentation.

Scientific and technical writing: Guidance on technical reports, research papers, dissertations and theses, including research methodology, scientific communication and presentation of results.

Academic and career development: Research presentations, posters, viva preparation, technical interviews and communicating project achievements through professional portfolios and online platforms.
