About Kevin

Outside of teaching, I have a passion for music—I play guitar and enjoy writing songs, and even performed in a rock band during my early college years. I also love horseback riding, staying active at the gym, and watching classic and modern horror films.

About the lesson

As a tutor with a master’s degree in applied mathematics and current PhD studies in physics, I bring both deep subject knowledge and a passion for teaching to every session. My approach is student-centered and results-driven: I tailor each lesson to the individual needs, learning style, and academic goals of the student. Teaching Method and Techniques I believe that true understanding comes from building intuition, not memorization. I use a combination of guided problem-solving, conceptual explanations, real-world examples, and interactive questioning to help students grasp core principles and apply them confidently. I also emphasize visual thinking and step-by-step reasoning, especially for abstract topics. Typical Lesson Plan A typical lesson begins with a brief review or diagnostic discussion to identify where the student is struggling or what they hope to master. We then dive into targeted instruction, working through examples together and gradually increasing the complexity. I include frequent check-ins to ensure understanding and leave time at the end for Q&A or review of key takeaways. I also provide optional practice problems and feedback between sessions when desired. What Sets Me Apart What sets me apart is my academic background combined with a patient, engaging teaching style. I know how intimidating math and physics can be, so I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. My experience as a college-level instructor and researcher enables me to help students at all levels—from high school algebra to advanced college physics.
