About Ciaran

I hold a PhD in Mathematics and have significant experience teaching and tutoring students at the middle school, high school, and college levels. My academic training allows me to explain mathematical ideas with both depth and clarity, while adapting explanations to the level of the student.

I help students improve their grades, prepare for important exams such as AP Calculus and the SAT/ACT, and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities. I believe that every student can succeed in mathematics when concepts are presented clearly and logically.

I approach tutoring with professionalism and preparation. Lessons are structured, focused on the student’s goals, and designed to strengthen both understanding and problem-solving skills. I am patient, attentive to each student’s needs, and committed to helping students build lasting confidence in mathematics.

About the lesson

My goal as a tutor is to help students truly understand mathematics rather than simply memorize formulas. With a PhD in Mathematics and significant teaching and tutoring experience, I focus on explaining concepts clearly and building a strong foundation so that students gain confidence and independence in problem solving.

My teaching approach begins by identifying the student’s current level of understanding and the areas that need the most attention. From there, I guide the student step-by-step through concepts and examples, making sure each idea is fully understood before moving forward. I encourage students to ask questions and actively participate in solving problems during the lesson.

A typical lesson includes reviewing homework or previous material, explaining new concepts in a clear and intuitive way, and working through practice problems together. I often demonstrate multiple ways to approach a problem so students learn flexible problem-solving strategies that are useful on exams.

What sets my tutoring apart is my ability to break down complex mathematical ideas into simple, logical steps. Many students come to me feeling frustrated or overwhelmed by math, and my goal is to help them develop confidence and a clear understanding of the subject.

I work with students at many levels, including middle school mathematics, high school algebra and geometry, AP Calculus, SAT/ACT math preparation, and college-level mathematics courses. My lessons are ideal for students who want to improve grades, prepare for important exams, or gain a deeper understanding of mathematics.
