About Dr Thor
I work primarily with final-year undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional learners on dissertation and thesis projects, from early topic development and research design through to analysis, writing, and viva preparation. I am a senior academic with a PhD from the London School of Economics and decades of experience as a course leader and dissertation lead, with expertise spanning business and innovation management, research methods (quantitative and qualitative), and applied academic supervision.

I offer comprehensive academic support across the full spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional study. Drawing on decades of experience as a course leader, dissertation lead, and academic supervisor, my sessions are designed to build clarity, rigour, and confidence in both academic thinking and written work. I support students with a wide range of practical academic tasks, tailored to discipline, level, and individual requirements. Typical areas of support include essays, dissertations, research methods, data analysis planning, and viva preparation. This includes essay structuring and academic writing; critical literature review and synthesis; dissertation and thesis research design; questionnaire and survey design; qualitative data collection, coding, and interpretation; quantitative analysis planning and interpretation; and preparation for vivas, research presentations, and formal assessments. A typical lesson is structured and purposeful. We begin by clarifying your objectives and reviewing any current work or drafts. We then work directly on the relevant task—whether refining an argument, strengthening methodological choices, improving structure and coherence, or responding to examiner or supervisor feedback—ensuring that theory and method are applied appropriately and with academic rigour. Sessions conclude with clear next steps and practical guidance to support independent progress between meetings. Students typically leave sessions with clearer arguments, stronger structure, and a clear plan for independent progress. My approach goes beyond proofreading or short-term fixes. The emphasis is on developing sound academic judgement, critical thinking, and transferable skills that will support you throughout your degree and beyond. I work particularly well with final-year undergraduates, postgraduate students, and professional learners seeking rigorous, high-quality academic support delivered in a supportive and intellectually demanding way.
