About Louis
I am a final-year PhD student at the University of Sheffield. I have a first-class master's degree in Chemical Engineering, achieving an average grade of over 80% for my studies. Prior to that, I have also achieved high grades in both A levels, and GCSEs which puts me in a great position to help others do the same! I am incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about my subjects and would relish the opportunity to share what I have learnt with another like-minded student. In my life away from the books I am a very active person and enjoy socialising particularly in a sporting setting. I play a lot of rugby and enjoy fitness training and believe these sorts of social interactions, hobbies & interests are crucial not only for personal development but for revision/learning as well. I would always encourage students to prioritise these elements of their lives and teach them how to utilise these to manage academic pressures and stress, particularly in and around exam season.

Through instilling a deeper understanding of subject matter, I believe any student can exceed their academic goals and achieve a higher level of critical thinking. This is the underpinning of any academic venture and starts at a ‘grass roots’ level. My goal is to guide the student through their course subjects and supplement their education with a more critical approach to learning, imparting skills and techniques that I have developed and utilised myself to achieve the top grades from GCSE right through to degree level. Furthermore, through online tutoring the student will learn how to interact and communicate in an online environment. This is an immensely valuable skill in the increasingly digital post-COVID 19 world we live in. Well what should you expect from me? Tutoring up to A level in Maths, Physics, Chemistry. This includes: - 1:1 teaching and review of classroom topics. - Assistance with homework, projects and other academic tasks. - Work to help understand complex subject topics. - Practise tests to track progress. - Regular feedback to student on progress & constructive feedback. - Feedback to parents on how student is getting on. - Support with university/apprenticeship applications including CV & cover letter drafting. I also support degree-level learning at a higher rate, specialising in reaction engineering, process control and transport phenomena.

Perfect! Louis is very friendly and personable, he is patient with his teaching and very helpful when it comes to explaining things in multiple different ways.
Perfect! Louis is an excellent teacher, who makes sure I understand every aspect of a problem/question and also makes sure I am very comfortable with the topic I am studying. He also goes the extra mile by finding appropriate material online and recommends helpful books. Overall a great educator.
