About Derek
I am a doctor of engineering with an MSc and BSc in physics, and a PGDE (Teacher Qualification) in physics with science. I enjoy teaching and explaining math and physics concepts. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling and designing computer games.

Typical lesson length is 60 min, I will teach online through WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams
I work with the pupil to determine what their needs are and how to best support their learning. I take a pupil lead approach working at a pace that allows a fuller understanding of the material. My style is to explain concepts using multiple different explanations. This gives a pupil exposure to the concept through multiple angles.
I have worked as a private tutor for high school level maths, and physics in Scotland. I have taught physics as a secondary school teacher. I have taught maths as a TA at the University of Glasgow to first year undergraduate engineering students.
