About Steve
I have been a Language Arts teacher for over 20 years and teach both high school and college classes. My PhD is in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on writing. But don't let the PhD fool you; I am a very relaxed and patient person and teacher. I have found that one of the most important elements to successful teaching is establishing a great rapport with each student. I look forward to helping you become a better writer!

As a teacher, I meet each student at his/her level of need, and identifying that need early and efficiently is crucial to helping a student advance. In addition to determining each student's needs, it is also important for me to understand the goals that my students have for themselves.
Once I know my students' needs and goals, I then develop a strategy that is unique to each student. Since much of my teaching is in formal writing and the writing process, I want to understand what type of writing a student wants to improve upon. Students who need help writing a resume, for example, require a different strategy than students who need help writing a research paper.
Finally, I have many years of experience with every level of writer. Whether you struggle to compose a simple paragraph in your high school English class, or you are a college junior figuring out how to write a 15 page research paper, I can help you succeed.
