About Jane

Hello! I'm Jane, a passionate and experienced Chemistry tutor dedicated to helping students gain confidence, make real progress and achieve excellent exam results.

I hold a First-Class degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Manchester. Alongside tutoring, I spent many years working as a professional scientist and team leader for a leading pharmaceutical company. With 8+ years of tutoring experience, I have helped students of all abilities strengthen their understanding, build confidence and achieve their full potential in Chemistry.

As a parent of five, I understand that every student is different. I believe in creating a calm, supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding at their own pace.

I find it rewarding to see students grow in confidence, overcome difficult topics and achieve results that they can be proud of.

About the lesson

I specialise in A-Level Chemistry (AQA and OCR) and support students of all abilities, from those needing to build confidence and strengthen foundations to high-achieving students aiming for A and A* grades.

My lessons are structured, supportive and strongly focused on exam success. I explain topics clearly and step by step, using high-quality resources developed over many years of tutoring, together with worked examples and exam-style questions.

I place a strong emphasis on building understanding first and then developing the exam technique needed to apply that knowledge effectively. Lessons are tailored to each student's needs and typically last one hour.

My aim is to help students gain confidence, enjoy Chemistry and achieve their full potential.
