About Miles
In addition to years of experience working in post-secondary education (at McMaster University and York University), I've taught young people and adults extensively, including struggling learners, in public schools, for the YMCA and the City of Kitchener, and with the Learning Disabilities Association of Nova Scotia.

Emphasizing the fundamental role of writing in learning and comprehension, my teaching encourages clarity and precision in writing. Drawing on my experience as an academic tutor, writer, and speaker, I challenge students to identify and communicate their own ideas forthrightly and with precision.
Students can expect to engage (or to master!) material from class, or from independent study, as we habitually return to the sentence and paragraph structure of their own writing.
