About Tim

Hi there. I've been a college student for 15+ years, 10 years as an undergraduate and 5+ years as a graduate student, so I get how hard it can be to get to that end goal. Finishing my bachelor's degree in 2018 in Material Science and Engineering was a huge accomplishment after starting my college career failing many of my classes having been barely able to keep my head above water at times. Ultimately what changed me was finding the passion I've had for mathematics and science all along. Once I found my groove I was able to go from a mediocre student to being on the dean's list with high honors for several straight semesters. It was this success and passion which led me to become a PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering conducting current research in DNA Nanotechnology for the development of DNA-based biosensors. Technicalities aside, I am also quite passionate about seeing people learn. I love to see people grasp, and become excited about, new math or science concepts. Mentoring has always been a strength for me. I thrive in a 1-on-1 environment working with students to bring out their best. About the lesson

My tutoring sessions are geared for those who benefit from approaching math and science problems from multiple angles. I utilize a targeted teaching approach that serves to strengthen students in the weakest areas while also covering the fundamentals of mathematics and science topics. Before beginning to teach a new student I like to have a 1-on-1 free consultation to assess where the student is in their personal learning process and to get to know each other. From there, I will develop a customized list of topics that would best suit the student's needs whether that be topics that are related to a class they are currently enrolled in or for their own foundation in the fundamentals of math and science. A typical lesson will include: - A short review of topics either assigned by me or assigned by classes the student is taking. - Working on sample problems together online through Zoom. - Discussion of any questions the student has. - Discussion of fundamental math and science topics that might accelerate the student's learning. - Comprehensive review of major topics to help prepare for exams and helpful exam-taking hints. My lessons are best suited to students who require more help in either their high school or college classes. I provide many secrets to success that have personally helped me achieve success in my academic career.
