About Lindsey
As your tutor, I would be dedicated to making complex scientific and mathematic concepts easy to understand and in developing your confidence in these understandings. Whether you need help mastering coursework or refining problem-solving skills, I am here to guide you toward success.
My 8 years of collegiate level-training in biochemistry , as well as my 7 years of experience in laboratory research have made me passionate in the pursuit of science, as well as imparting scientific knowledge to others. I believe education for the students of today is quintessential for driving the breakthroughs and advancements of tomorrow. Because of this, I have dedicated a portion of my academic career to tutoring and being a teacher's assistant. For numerous years now, I have tutored students across various grade-levels, both in the laboratory and classroom setting.
Additionally, I have earned a Teaching Academy Certificate, reflecting my commitment to evidence-based teaching practices that engage students, improve learning outcomes, and foster inclusive, equitable learning environments.
Ultimately, I believe in promoting confidence, critical-thinking, and applied understanding in my teachings. I will strive to be the best tutor that I can be, and constantly grow as tutor, just as I hope my students can learn and grow from me .

My tutoring style aims to get down to the core of each subject that a student is trying to understand. What are the basic principles being taught here, how does it apply to the broader perspectives and lessons within math and science? I often like to return to the material being taught and then look at it from various angles. There are many ways to understand a lesson, and I believe that revisiting material, accessing learning resources, and then focusing on what is and isn't clear can help students expand knowledge on a topic. I emphasize making sure the core basics of a topic are grasped to then allow a student to critically apply these understandings to other ideas. I also believe students should not be taught to only memorize, but rather understand what is being taught and why.
I am available to tutor subjects widely ranging within the fields of science and mathematics, such as algebra, geometry, biology, laboratory sciences, and chemistry . I am available to teach middle school to undergraduate level students. My 4 years of undergraduate training in biochemistry with a minor in chemistry, and 4 years of ongoing PhD work in biochemistry and molecular biology have given me expansive knowledge in science, research, medicine, and mathematics. My skillset also provides students with critical-thinking, concept application, and troubleshooting.
