About Andrew
I've been teaching English language arts since 2012, bringing over a decade of experience to students at every level. With an honors BA and Master's in human geography, plus current PhD candidacy, I combine rigorous academic training with practical teaching expertise.
My career spans diverse educational settings: I've worked at an intercultural center helping German families transition to English-speaking countries (Canada, the US, and Australia), preparing both children and adults, not just with language acquisition but with cultural knowledge for their new homes. I've taught in kindergartens and elementary schools, worked with teenagers, led multiple English language camps, and currently provide one-on-one tutoring for high school students.
I specialize in preparing students for their next academic step—whether that's high school success, undergraduate applications, or grad school admissions. My approach is tailored to each student's specific needs and incorporates critical thinking, creative writing, oral presentation skills, comparative literature analysis, and essay writing techniques.
Trained in critical pedagogy, I've also served as a teaching assistant and instructor of record at Humboldt Universität in Berlin, where I teach human geography alongside essential academic competencies: research methodologies, critical theory, writing, and presentation skills.
Every student learns differently, and I'm committed to finding the approach that works best for you.
