About Abhilasha
I adopt a student-centered approach to teaching, using active learning strategies such as case-based discussions, flipped classrooms, and interactive problem-solving sessions. I find these methods particularly effective in Public Health and Biomedical Science education, where interdisciplinary knowledge and critical thinking are essential. I integrate real-world health issues and current scientific literature into lessons to make content relevant and thought-provoking. Assessment is another important aspect of my teaching philosophy. I design assessments that go beyond rote memorization and instead challenge students to apply, analyze, and synthesize information. I provide timely, constructive feedback to help students understand their strengths and identify areas for improvement. I am also deeply committed to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. I believe in the transformative power of representation and work actively to create an environment where all students feel seen, heard, and supported.

I have supervised and co-supervised a number of students who have successfully completed their degree.
I aim to create a learning environment that is engaging, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating—where students are encouraged to think independently, ask questions, and connect classroom knowledge to real-world applications.
During my postdoctoral fellowship at the Public Health and Research Institute, Rutgers University, USA, I had the opportunity to lecture undergraduate and graduate students in Biomedical Sciences, delivering content in molecular and cellular biology, immunology, and genetics. I designed and delivered lectures that emphasized core concepts while incorporating recent research findings to contextualize the material and spark student interest.
