About Rebecca

I am passionate about bringing Biology to life for students. I have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, along with professional experience in research and drug discovery. This means that I can connect learning to real-world scientific context and make the subject more meaningful in lessons.

I have a strong understanding of biological sciences, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and accessible way. I have taught undergraduate students at UCL across Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical and Medical Sciences, covering topics such as physiology, genetics and cell biology. I led tutorials, delivered seminars, marked coursework, and supported research projects. I am also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), reflecting my commitment to effective and student-focused teaching.

Alongside university-level teaching, I have experience tutoring A-level students and enjoy supporting learners across all levels. This includes strengthening core concepts and exam technique at school level, as well as developing scientific reasoning and critical thinking at university level.

My aim is always to make science feel clearer and more engaging, helping students develop a genuine understanding of the subject which they can apply with confidence to improve their performance.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on helping students not just learn the material, but understand it well enough to apply it confidently in exams, coursework, or more advanced study.

For GCSE and A-level students, sessions focus on building strong core understanding, breaking down challenging topics, and developing effective exam technique through practice questions and guided explanation.

For undergraduate and postgraduate students, sessions become more analytical and discussion-based. This may include exploring complex topics in depth, supporting coursework, or developing scientific reasoning and skills such as data interpretation and critical thinking.

Across all levels, I aim to make sessions interactive and engaging, using clear explanations, guided-questioning, and a range of learning resources. Lessons are designed to build confidence, independence, and long-term understanding of the subject.

I look forward to working together to tailor each session to your goals, whether that’s improving grades, preparing for exams, or building a deeper understanding of the subject.
