About Afua
I love teaching and have always wanted to give back to my community in the way of imparting knowledge and through my experience of teaching, I believe I've found my calling in that sense as I'm really passionate and thoroughly enjoy what I do. And I love to see the confidence of my students grow as they become more and more confident in their own abilities and start to also improve on their knowledge of the subject.

My teaching style is firstly, engage and interact with all my students and really emphasize on getting to know them as I believe relationship is at the core of everything and I want my students to know they have a safe space with me to try new things and make mistakes, but most importantly learn from them. I start of by teaching the theory. Then I include context and offer practical examples to help deepen the understanding of the subject. I then proceed with an activity which will engage the student and allow them to demonstrate what has been taught as a form of assessment for me to decide whether to carry on with the lesson or address any misconceptions and mistakes that may have occurred. And eventually, after moving on, revisit the same subject much later to ensure it's been embedded. A typical lesson will be about an hour and will be tailored completely to the student's needs. I'm a qualified Secondary Maths Teacher as well as a Certified TESOL Instructor. My Maths lessons will mainly be catered towards primary and secondary students but English lessons will be for ALL ages.
