About Sohail

I’m a qualified and experienced English teacher with 5 years' of in-classroom experience, and 9 years of tutoring experience, helping students achieve success at KS3/KS4 and KS5. I have examined for AQA, specifically English Language paper 1 and will be continuing with this in summer 2026.
I've taught across Sheffield, helping students from all backgrounds. I’m passionate about making literature and language accessible and enjoyable, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. My approach is supportive, structured, and adapted to each learner’s needs—whether they’re aiming to boost confidence, improve grades, or push for top marks. I believe every student has the potential to thrive, and I’m committed to helping them develop strong analytical skills, expressive writing, and a genuine understanding of the texts they study. I believe that accessibility is key in enabling students to thrive. Whether it is English language or literature, paper one/paper two or both, I can ensure that your journey through the English curriculum will be made enjoyable.

About the lesson

Build confidence, boost grades, and master English GCSE. I specialize in AQA/Educas & iGCSE English. My tutoring begins with a diagnostic assessment (usually a question 5 from an English language paper) to pinpoint each students strengths and areas that require refinement and improvement. My tutoring develops analytical precision, powerful essay writing, and a deeper understanding of literature and the English language courses.

Lessons are conducted online via Teams, This setup allows students to benefit from clear explanations, worked examples, and real-time feedback, making the most of every session. My aim is to build their confidence, improve their analytical skills, and ensure they are thoroughly prepared for exam success. All whilst enjoying the content & gaining a passion for the subject.

I believe that the most efficient way to approach the content is through practice testing, I aim to provide the time and space for students to apply the things they have learnt and respond to exam questions and then time for feedback, reflection and then application, aiding them in refining their skills. Whether you’re studying a 19th century novel/ Shakespeare/ poetry or a modern text etc, I provide an environment where we can discuss ideas and push students to becoming more perceptive and skilled young people.
