About Melanie
As a college level professor and tutor for over 15 years, I am comfortable with students of any age and education level. In my professional career at Delaware County Community College, I was awarded the 2019 Educational Foundation Part-Time Faculty Award, STEM division. Teaching is a passion and I strongly believe that learning is a life long pursuit. This guiding principle began with my own four children, now all grown up. Even now, I tutor my daughter in her chemistry and biology classes in college.

Teaching the sciences is about having fun while learning. I use humor and real-life examples to create stronger understanding of the course material. My goal is to have students be able to apply their knowledge, not just memorize facts. Getting to know how a student learns best (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, etc.) allows me to tailor the lesson plans specifically for that student. A typical tutoring session might include review of homework/exams, creating study strategies/aids and a hands-on activity to teach new material or strengthen understanding of previous material.
