About Daniella

I am a current student at U.C. Berkeley, majoring in math and education sciences, and I am very committed to completing my teaching credential to become a high school math educator in California. I grew up in the East Bay and Tri-Valley area of California. My hobbies include researching interesting mathematical problems, playing instruments (piano, drums, and marimba), reading books (science fiction and classics), and occasionally playing video games. In High School, I helped run the drumline and band programs as a student leader, and I remain dedicated to studying jazz music in my free time.

About the lesson

I prefer to spend the first session or communication period before the first session assessing the student's current skills and making a plan to get them to where they want to be. I care a lot about teaching and I am committed to consistent improvement in the tutoring service I provide, especially when it comes to forming meaningful connections that make me an asset to my students. I believe that the better a teacher/tutor understands a student as a person, the better I can support them academically and most importantly in their goals in life.

A typical math lesson would include a thorough explanation of the topic adapted to the style preferred by the student and a series of illuminative practice problems that will help the student practice understanding. At the end of the lesson, I would provide a list of resources and other practice problems that the student can use to further strengthen their skills in a particular topic. For any students seeking lessons supplementary to any classes they are currently taking I can provide both support and enrichment to help them stay on track or get ahead!

My lessons are geared towards older, more self-motivated students (late middle-high school), but I am experienced in providing support to younger students (early middle school) and I can design plans that factor in minimal outside work. I also have a lot of knowledge and experience around the college admissions process in the U.S. and the steps toward college readiness, so many of my lessons with high schoolers would come with any advice and help they might need navigating those resources.
