About Maria Gemma

My name is Gemma and I'm a 23-year-old English Graduate from the University of Stirling.

I am native from Spain, but I moved to the UK over four years ago to pursue my passion for English literature. I am currently studying a Humanities MRes, which is a Research Masters, to further specialise on 18th century literature and gain the skills for future research work at the doctoral level, which is my current goal.

I am very positive and energetic and I love to transmit my enthusiasm to all my students. I am also very disciplined and organised with my work, hence, I like to plan my lessons in advance, with personalised explanations and exercises to make the most of your time.

About the lesson

I believe that each of us have different talents and ways of learning. A 'difficult' subject can become enjoyable when looked at through the right lenses.

Hence, my lessons adapt to each student and their particular needs to make the most of their learning experience in a positive and friendly environment. My lessons typically last an hour, however, in the past I've had students who required up to three hours with breaks in between. That is entirely up to you and your needs! Moreover, since lessons would be delivered online via zoom or a similar platform, my schedule is very flexible.

I offer help:

• Writing essays (including basic academic research and how
to make the most of your reading).

• Preparing oral presentations or literary debates (critical
thinking).

• Understanding better classic literature and close readings. I
am currently specialising on 18th century literature, but I
can prepare almost any subject, as long as I am notified in
advance.

I also have experience teaching English to foreign students, from ages 12 onwards, with brilliant results achieved in all disciplines (speaking, reading and writing).
