I am a PhD engineer, MBA, and Bachelors chemist with over 7 years of industry experience and over 12 years in post-secondary education, with over 8 years instructing students in the classroom. My method is to introduce skills individually in bite size chunks first, whether they be theoretical or rule based. We can then look at how and where these rules apply, and then work on applying the right rules in the right order for math syntax.
A typical lesson will start with simple examples and then stretch the understanding of tools with questions of progressive difficulty or context. This will include time fir the student to walk through their thinking, identification questions to ensure concepts are clear, and example problems that relate the topic of interest.
If the student has already identified problems, we can start there but if the student doesn't understand why math is challenging, we can work on that as well.
I have a longstanding track record as an instructor in math and stats for demystifying complicated problems for students. I am very patient and understanding. I edited a nationally recognized text book to make it more accessible to struggling learners (no skipped steps!)
While I can tutor at all levels, my skills would be best applied for middle school, high school and technical school math and statistics.
