About Matt
My college education focused on trumpet and music education, and I hold bachelor's in both trumpet performance and music education from The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD. I then moved to California and attained my master's in music, again with a focus in trumpet from the Bob Cole Conservatory at CSULB. We can talk more about all that and other musical subjects I teach later, but what brings me here today is the acoustic guitar I had simultaneously learned to play guitar with rock and roll bands throughout all those years. This had led to playing guitar with multiple bands, learning many cover and original songs alike. I currently work with Sean Carney and The Hustlers, a rising Los Angeles star, and I’ve got plans to start my own YouTube channel.

I want to help you learn the songs you love, to learn HOW to learn the songs you love, and even help you work out your own material. If you’re having difficulty playing something, we’ll wood-shed the technique. If you’re having trouble or simply want to learn how to approach learning songs, we’ll talk about song structure/chord progressions, or any other way to break it down so we can put it back together and master whatever we pick. Every one of us is unique in our approach and understanding, so I will make sure to tailor each approach to each individual. We can talk about everything from playing, to songwriting and structure, and even ear training and music theory! All styles and songs welcome, because at the end of the day I will always remain a student too. I can’t wait to talk about and help you along your musical journey!
