About Simon
I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science and work daily as a Software Engineer. I don't just teach these concepts out of a textbook; I build infrastructure with them every day.
This practical experience allows me to bring real-world context into lessons—showing students how Precalculus functions map to real data, or how basic Algebra powers modern software. Furthermore, my engineering background means I am exceptionally organized, patient, and precise in how I diagnose exactly where a student is getting stuck.

My goal is to teach students how to break down massive, intimidating problems into small, manageable parts. I focus on the why behind a concept so that when a student encounters a brand-new problem on an exam, they have the frameworks needed to solve it completely independently.
Minutes 1–10: The Warm-Up & Review
We start by reviewing core concepts from the previous week or addressing immediate questions from school homework. This ensures no gaps in foundational knowledge are left unaddressed.
Minutes 10–35: Interactive Concept Deep-Dive
I introduce the day's new topic using digital whiteboards or live-coding environments. Instead of lecturing, I use active questioning to guide the student toward discovering the solution themselves.
Minutes 35–55: Guided & Independent Practice
The student takes the driver’s seat. We work through problems side-by-side, gradually shifting to independent practice where the student explains their thought process out loud to reinforce their understanding.
Minutes 55–60: Summary & Action Plan
We recap the core takeaways, note areas that need a little extra review, and align on goals for the next session.
