About Robert

I am a well-respected adjunct math professor at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) and Marymount University, and was the Lead Math Professor at the Art Institute of Washington (AiW) from 2002-2014. I am well experienced and knowledgeable in many math courses. I have taught a variety of over 150 math classes to include math, quantitative reasoning, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics. I was also the Lead Math Associate Professor for freshmen calculus course of 1200 students at the United States Military Academy in the 1980s. I am uniquely qualified to relate practical applications of math to the real world, having leveraged math and critical thinking, as a program manager and technical lead of major technical/communications/computer systems and financial management venues both in the military and a civilian domains. I am a retired LTC from the US Army.

About the lesson

I bring a fresh dynamic and exciting approach to learning math, one that students can “COUNT ON”! I develop a strong rapport with each student and assist each one in making math meaningful and manageable. Goal is to "demystify" math/algebra/calculus/stats by relating them to what students can relate to and are interested in. I revitalized the entire math program at the Art Institute of Washington by designing and implementing pre-calculus and calculus courses specifically designed for audio engineers and game designers and math classes for culinary students. I leverage 45 years of experience in teaching, training, and mentoring in the US Army, program management in the Information Technology Business and leadership in academia to customize the learning process for each student. I ensure that every student remains involved and invested in their own learning quest and receive their own edification in a student-centered vibrant learning environment. By leveraging the student’s strengths while shoring up selected topics to mitigate their challenges, I build their confidence while they are learning new material. REMEMBER: "It's NOT a math class, IT's an ADVENTURE!"
