About Barbara

One day, on the first day of my first French class, in middle school,, I heard two French teachers talking French to each other in front of the class. OMG, it was so beautiful to me, …I was mesmerized (“CAPTIVÉ” pronounced CAP-TEE-VAY)!

And now here I am,….’have majored in French in middle school, in high school, in college, got my M.A. in French….and have taught French for 25+ years. I’ve also lived, studied and traveled in France!

I love my work. I am happiest when I’m teaching. I am so blessed because my students seem to have picked up my enthusiasm and joy. Some of them have even said they come to class as much for the joy and fun as to learn French! (It’s true/c’est vrai!) Anyway, I invite you to try out having that kind of an experience,….I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

About the lesson

In my classes, students feel enthusiastic and free of anxiety/self-consciousness because (1) I love teaching French so much that they pick up on the “vibes,” (2) I never judge them, so they feel safe and “at home,” and 3) I tailor my teaching to each student’s individual LEARNING STYLE ( there are 4), to their individual GOALS AND NEEDS, and with total respect for each individual ‘s RATE/SPEED OF LEARNING. This all has proven to be a perfect environment for the rapid and successful learning of the French language.
