About Ciara

My name is Ciara, and I'm currently studying Business and Law in Trinity College Dublin. I completed the Leaving Certificate just last year, achieving a H1 in maths and 625 points. I have a very clear understanding of both the junior cycle and leaving certificate courses and what it takes to do well in them.

I want to tutor because I really enjoy helping others and making school feel less stressful and more manageable. I remember how overwhelming certain subjects and exams can feel, and I know how helpful it is to have someone explain things clearly and patiently, without the time pressure classes are often under in school.

I find tutoring really rewarding, especially when students start to gain confidence and see improvement in their work. Whether it’s understanding a tricky topic, preparing for exams, or just feeling more confident in class, my goal is to support students in a friendly, encouraging way and help them reach their potential.

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring is grounded in both strong subject knowledge and a genuine understanding of what students experience in the Junior and Leaving Certificate years. Having recently completed these curriculums myself, I am very familiar with their structure, expectations, and the best ways to obtain marks. This allows me to explain material in a clear, relatable way and to anticipate common challenges.

I place a strong emphasis on building solid foundations and ensuring students truly understand the basics, rather than relying on rote learning. Once this understanding is secure, I focus on exam technique: working through past papers, breaking down marking schemes, and developing strategies to perform confidently under exam conditions. I help students learn how to manage time, interpret questions accurately, and approach exams calmly and effectively.

Above all, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe confidence grows with understanding, encouragement, and consistent practice, and I tailor each lesson to suit the individual student’s needs and goals.
