About Yunona

Hi! I'm Yunona! I've been tutoring elementary to undergraduate math since high school, and I love helping students gain confidence in problem-solving. I recently graduated with a BSc in Math from the University of Calgary. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing chess, pondering over unanswered questions, analyzing financial markets, and climbing mountains.

I have 7 months of remote tutoring experience, hosting weekly and biweekly lessons with 21 students of various ages across the globe, and 2 years of teaching experience as a private math tutor in Kazakhstan. I assisted students with SAT and AP (Calculus and Statistics) exam preparation, homework, and class assignments (with curriculum spanning from third grade math to university calculus). I have participated in numerous math olympiads (MathCounts, AMC, IMC, Math Kangaroo, and others), winning first place nationally within Kazakhstan, and silver and bronze internationally (at IMC Malaysia and IMC Thailand, respectively). I completed my BSc in Mathematics (with a Minor in Economics) at the University of Calgary (where I was an Ambassador for the Society of Undergraduate Mathematics) in May 2025. I scored an 800/800 on the Math section of the SAT, as well as on each of the SAT Math subject tests.

About the lesson

Let's dive into the whimsical world of math! My lessons are clear, structured, and always adapted to your level and goals. Whether you’re preparing for exams, improving your grades, or simply want to understand concepts more deeply, I’ll guide you step by step until it clicks.

I believe learning works best when it feels approachable and even enjoyable. I like using examples, asking guiding questions, and encouraging you to think strategically.

I truly believe every student already knows more math than they think - often, it just takes the right approach to "derive" that confidence. You are absolutely capable of succeeding, and I’ll be here to guide and support you throughout the way.

Subjects I tutor: Mathematics (elementary to undergraduate levels), Discrete Math, Probability and Statistics, Econometrics, SAT/ACT, GRE, Olympiad Math (AMC/MathCounts/MathKangaroo/etc. )

Students I work with: Middle school, High school, university, and adult learners.

Teaching style: Patient, supportive, and focused on building both skill and confidence.
