About Kathleen
I have 3 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics. During my teaching journey, I have worked with students from different educational backgrounds, helping them improve their mathematical confidence through patient guidance and structured instruction. I believe every learner can succeed when given the right support and encouragement.
One student found solving equations with variables on both sides particularly difficult because organizing each step often became confusing. Through carefully structured demonstrations, guided practice, and regular revision, the student developed stronger problem-solving skills and achieved noticeable improvement in classroom performance and examinations.
I believe algebra develops logical thinking, persistence, attention to detail, and analytical reasoning that benefit students throughout their education and future careers. Outside teaching, I enjoy creating engaging mathematics practice materials, exploring educational technology, and participating in teacher development workshops.

My teaching philosophy centers on making algebra approachable by connecting every concept to logical reasoning and step-by-step understanding. Before beginning lessons, I evaluate each student's mathematical background, learning style, confidence level, and academic objectives. This allows me to create customized lesson plans that address learning gaps while building strong algebraic foundations through structured progression.
Students receive instruction in variables, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, polynomial operations, radicals, rational expressions, quadratic equations, systems of equations, sequences, algebraic identities, and introductory mathematical modeling. Lessons combine conceptual discussions, visual demonstrations, guided examples, collaborative activities, structured exercises, and independent practice. Students are encouraged to explain their reasoning, compare different solution methods, and recognize mathematical patterns that improve both confidence and conceptual understanding.
Real-world examples from budgeting, architecture, business planning, engineering design, sports statistics, coding, and environmental studies help students understand the practical value of algebra. Frequent quizzes, revision activities, personalized assignments, and progress discussions reinforce learning while identifying opportunities for improvement. Lessons remain flexible so every learner receives the support needed to succeed.
