About Elaine
Hello everyone!
My name is Elaine and I am a multilingual Australian university student with a Chinese background. I have a great passion for learning languages and am able to communicate fluently in both English and Mandarin Chinese at a native level. Born in Melbourne to Chinese parents, I have been raised bilingual, having always conversed in the two languages of English and Mandarin Chinese within and outside my family home. In addition to this, I attended an extracurricular Chinese School on the weekend to further improve my efficacy and understanding of my mother tongue.
As I continued to grow, so did my love for language-learning. Thus, throughout my six years of Secondary College education, I studied French as a foreign language. Now, in my first year of university, I have started to learn Modern Standard Arabic.

As a tutor, my main focus is for my students to gain knowledge of, and fully comprehend a new concept or area of their chosen subject. In order for them to do so, I require their complete cooperation at all times. It is to my firm belief that a ‘hands-on’ or interactive heuristic approach is the most effective method of learning. Therefore, please do note that I only aim to aid my students in their studies, and do not complete their schoolwork for them. I also believe quite strongly in contingent teaching. This means I will adapt my lesson plans to cater to the needs and skillsets of each individual student.
