About Johanri

Hello, my name is Jo-hanri. I am 22 and grew up in small town in South Africa. I studied Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, driven by my passion for understanding the human mind and behavior. To combine this passion with my love for teaching, I completed a TEFL certificate, focusing on teaching English as a foreign language.

English has always been a subject close to my heart—its ability to connect people from different cultures and backgrounds is something I find truly inspiring. While I may not have formal teaching experience, my background in psychology equips me with a deep understanding of how people learn and communicate. I am confident that my enthusiasm, patience, and commitment to helping others succeed make me an excellent tutor. I am eager to share my knowledge and support students on their journey to mastering English.

About the lesson

I believe that every student is unique, so I tailor my teaching approach to fit the individual learning styles of my students. My methodology is rooted in my psychology background, which allows me to understand the cognitive and emotional aspects of learning. This insight helps me create a supportive and encouraging environment, where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and making mistakes—an essential part of the learning process.

I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and can teach in both languages. However, my primary focus is on helping non-native English speakers improve their language skills.

I emphasize real-world application, using materials and scenarios that students might encounter in their daily lives or professional environments.
