About Hannah

Hello! I am an 18-year-old student who has finished 7 years of grammar school education. I have finished my A-Levels- Geography, English Literature and Philosophy and am currently awaiting my grades (Predicted AAA).
I have experience teaching KS3 Maths and English, and GCSE English in which I have thoroughly enjoyed. This included work experience in an orphanage in Pakistan where I was challenged with tutoring a group of 10 children of different abilities. In many situations, this pushed me to be dynamic as I was also required to uphold an emotional understanding for children as well as an academic one.

As for my GCSE'S, I achieved level 9's (A*) for both English Literature and Language, in which I had only lost 1 mark for the Literature paper. My hard work and passion for English meant that teaching English to students of different levels and ages allowed me to form various teaching techniques in harder areas of English such as creative writing, comprehension and textual analysis.

Further to this, my school role as an art prefect allowed me to run an extra-curricular Art club for 20 aspiring students which enhanced my determination to enthuse and inspire others through creativity.

About the lesson

As a visual learner myself, I understand that learning in a classroom or a big group isn't suitable for everyone and can sometimes weaken the students drive and motivation. So my methodology for teaching accommodates the student's capacities and needs, and the most effective way in achieving this is usually through visualisation and task-based learning. For English, taking a dull concept and rejuvenating it through the student's interests or invigorating ideas and tasks enable more cognitive engagement, which overall increases their joy for the subject.
Art, as a plethora of research has shown is a form of therapy, and thus is improved through the practice of certain techniques and mindfulness. throughout my experience as an Art teacher, the best approach in teaching is enforcing that mistakes should be made as often as possible because growth is contingent on the student's ability to resolve the inaccuracies or hurdles that may go wrong with their medium.
Most importantly, I believe that productive lessons result from a comfortable and engaging environment in which the student is able to voice their opinions and difficulties with ease so that
progress and growth can be the priority.
