About May Lee
May Lee received her Bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University. Despite her scoliosis, she was always active in the theatre and dance community in Chicago.
In 2013, she suffered from disc hernia and barely could walk or turn her head. After 6 months of treatments her doctors told her that the only form of exercise she was allowed perform that wouldn’t injure her fragile spine was either swimming or yoga. Not being a great swimmer, yoga it was. After her first class, she became hooked. Not only did it make her stronger, it gave her mental relief and became her outlet.
May Lee is now a manager of a health and wellness facility and a fitness instructor at Pure Barre. By immersing herself in these settings, she is also able to incorporate anatomy, science, and fitness into yoga to create an amazing yoga experience for the body and mind.

My style of teaching is customized to YOU. Before our first session, I like to discuss your wellness goals so that together we can figure out how our sessions will be moving forward. I like to collaborate with my students, challenge them, build from the prior session, and let their growth shine.
I love teaching yoga to others, seeing my students gain confidence, creating a safe environment, and also having fun!
