About Callie
I am a Physics tutor with over four years of teaching experience and hold a Master’s degree in Physics (MPhys). Over the years, I have specialised in guiding students through the fascinating areas of biophysics and the physics of living systems. My approach blends strong theoretical grounding with practical applications that connect physics directly to biology. I enjoy helping students understand how physical laws shape processes inside living organisms. From the operation of molecular motors that drive cellular activity to the mechanics of membrane transport, I show how physics makes sense of life at its smallest scales. Many of my lessons also explore the physics of nerve impulses and the biomechanics of movement, offering insights into the complexity of the human body. I have worked with a wide range of learners, including biology students, pre-med students, and those curious about the physical underpinnings of life. By tailoring explanations to their background, I make sure concepts feel accessible while still maintaining scientific depth. I also encourage students to see connections between abstract physics principles and real biological systems. My sessions often focus on building intuition, using diagrams, analogies, and structured practice to turn challenging material into clear understanding. I emphasise problem-solving skills but also highlight the beauty of interdisciplinary thinking. This helps students not only succeed in exams and assignments but also appreciate the broader significance of what they are studying.

My teaching approach in Physics focuses on building both conceptual understanding and practical scientific enquiry. I believe that learning Physics is not just about solving equations but also about asking questions and testing ideas. Along with core topics, I guide students in experimental design, data analysis, error propagation, and scientific reporting, which are essential skills for laboratory work. I use a gentle and reflective style that allows learners to explore without fear of mistakes. Every experiment, whether simple or advanced, is treated as a chance to think critically and understand how scientific knowledge is built. I encourage learners to design their own investigations, interpret results, and communicate findings with clarity. My sessions are highly supportive of DIY scientists and curiosity-driven learners. I help them find their unique approach to experimentation and give them tools to think independently. This means they not only complete assignments and lab reports successfully but also develop confidence in carrying out scientific investigations on their own.
